The Jump Festa is one of, if not the most popular manga and anime expo, and has been known to bring some of the biggest news on upcoming anime every year. The Jump Festa 2023 was no different, and among the details revealed were updates regarding the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen.

During the event, a special character introduction video for the anime was unveiled, which gave us the first glimpses of Riko Amanai and Toji Fushiguro, along with some familiar faces. The teaser also unveiled the release window for the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, revealing a July 2023 premiere.

As we reported earlier, the second season of the anime will be adapting Gojo’s Past Arc as well as the Shibuya Incident Arc. You might have guessed from the earlier previews as well as the new teaser that the first arc will present us with a younger Gojo Sensei, as well as his past connection with the main antagonist of the series: Suguru Geto.

For those unversed in the world of anime, there are four major seasons for any show to be released:

  • Winter season — January to March
  • Spring season — April to June
  • Summer season — July to September
  • Fall season — October to December

The season will follow the already stacked Spring ’23 season, which marks the return of Dr. Stone, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, and my personal favorite – the second season of Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus’ Bride). None might, however, come close to the hype surrounding Jujutsu Kaisen (well, possibly Demon Slayer).

I will not be revealing much about the upcoming events of the anime, but here’s my opinion: Gojo’s Past Arc has been by far my favorite arc of the manga, and I can’t wait for MAPPA to breathe life into the already wonderful manga with beautifully choreographed fight sequences.

Another exciting addition to the Jujutsu Kaisen lineup is their smartphone RPG, titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Phantom Parade, which is set to release earlier in Spring 2023.

The anime is expected to air on Crunchyroll or Netflix depending on your region. Follow us to receive more updates on Jujutsu Kaisen.
