STARFIELD’S RELEASE DATE HAS BEEN MOVED BACK TO SEPTEMBER 6TH.

Bethesda has pushed back the release date of its upcoming major title Starfield yet again, and the game will now arrive on September 6th. The studio also announced the Starfield Direct for June 11, coming right after the Xbox Games Showcase.

Originally intended to launch on November 11th, 2022, the RPG was described as “Skyrim in space” by game director Todd Howard, with an ambitious promise of over 1,000 planets to explore.

For those unfamiliar with Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the game gives you an open world consisting of wilderness, dungeons, towns, and fortresses to explore. Starfield runs on the second generation of the Creation Engine that was built specifically for Skyrim, meaning the games are bound to share some aspects of gameplay.

However, the new trailer makes things seem much more intimate, presumably showcasing that the game will have much more than simply the expansive space to explore.

The game leans heavily toward character customization, along with the ability to play in both first- and third-person. The story is centered around the Constellation, a faction of scape explorers that the player belongs to.

In the new video, Todd Howard talks about the upcoming Starfield Direct. “This June, we’re going to bring you into the studio and give you a deep dive in the game at our Starfield direct,” he says, adding “There’s so much that we still have to show you.”

Starfield will now launch exclusively on the Xbox Series X/S and PC on September 6th and will be available on day one with the Xbox Game Pass.
