Amazon’s ultraviolent superhero satire is receiving yet another expansion — a spin-off titled “The Boys: Mexico,” as multiple outlets reported. The Spanish-language spinoff is currently helmed by “Blue Beetle” writer Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, Diego Luna, and Gael García as executive producers, TheWrap confirmed.

“The Boys” takes inspiration from Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson’s comic book series of the same name. It depicts the surprisingly eventful world of corporate superheroes — unapologetically profane and filled with gore and nudity. Nonetheless, the show has been surprisingly successful from its very first season.

  • Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video
  • Cast: Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Dominique McElligott, Karen Fukuhara, Tomer Capone
  • Developed by: Eric Kripke
  • Episodes: 24 (Three seasons)

The spin-off’s success has already garnered it a second season, one that will directly follow up on the events of season 4 of “The Boys.” Considering how interconnected the two shows have been, it wouldn’t be a surprise if some of these characters crossed over to Mexico for an appearance in the Spanish-language spin-off.

The exact plot for the spin-off is still under wraps, but the show reportedly looking for a co-showrunner to work alongside Dunnet-Alcocer. “The Boys: Mexico” will likely follow the upcoming season of “Gen V” — meaning it could still be a few years away.
